Where was Mehriban Aliyeva?

In English on Dekabr 14, 2010 by Araz Önər Etiketlənmiş: , ,

The new Wikileaks cable about the first lady of Azerbaijan was published recently. Actually the facts in this cable are not unknown to Azeri citizens.

These are old news –  almost every citizen in Azerbaijan knows that Mehriban Aliyeva and her family own more than 30 percent of Azerbaijan. They own banks, restaurants, shops, etc.

A day before the cable was published, the Italian newspaper Il Foglio – 40 percent of which belongs to Mrs. Berlusconi – published an article saying that Mehriban Aliyeva constantly meets with Alexandr Lukashenko in Berlin and that they have a romantic relationship.

Two days before was the 7th anniversary of the death of Heydar Aliyev. Every year the president Ilham Aliyev visits his father’s grave with his wife and children. This time we couldn’t see Mrs. Aliyeva there.

Ilham Aliyev is a president who takes part even in the opening ceremony of 20 km road and you never see him without his wife. And I don’t think that Mehriban Aliyeva can miss the ceremony of her father in law. Nobody can do this.

Although nobody believes or nobody wants to believe the article in Il Foglio, the fact that Aliyeva did not attend the funeral ceremony of Haydar Aliyev casts some doubts in our minds.
